Air Zimbabwe ‘grounded’

Zimbabwean national airline, the Air Zimbabwe has crambled  after operating one aircraft – the B767-200 ER, which has also suffered engine  failure.

In a statement made availabe to the media by the management of the airline this morning in Bulawayo, the aircraft had an engine change on 3rd March 2019 but the process could however, not be completed within the projected time due to unforseen circumstances.

Reports indicate that Air Zambabwe left its passengers stranded in Johannesburg on Tuesday night when it flew out four hours earlier than scheduled time.

Air Zimbabwe further said the alternative arrangement was being made for any passengers that were not reacheable on the contact details submited to the Airline at the point of ticketing.

“Air Zimbabwe wishes to apologies to the valued passegers for the schedule disruption which is currently obtaining due to equipment constraints” ready the statement in part.

The Airline is operating with one aircraft to service all its routes, said Ishmael Mururi a member of the UFAWUZI, a farmers union in Zimbabwe.
